One of my favourite little areas in London is Portobello Road.

It’s an area with much to offer: shopping antique stores and little places to eat. The street really brings back memories of watching Bedknobs and Broomsticks as a child, singing along with David Tomlinson as Portobello Road came alive on the screen. Just like in the movie, there are many treasures that can be found from the various vendors. Unlike other parts of London, not as many tourists have caught on to this little area. Make sure to get to the market early in the day because a lot of the street booths close down the closer to evening it gets.

Little Venice is on the sketchier side (maybe that’s just the small town girl in me), but it’s a pretty cool waterway to walk along. I’m sure it would be much more lively in the summer months. There were still plenty of houseboats along the canal in December.

If you want something in London not-so-touristy, I would definitely recommend these areas.
