We arrived in Utrecht early on a Sunday morning, which meant that there was nothing open, but the streets were ours to explore. Parking was free. Church bells were ringing throughout the town as we strolled along the empty canals. The city was similar to Amsterdam, but much cleaner.
There is a canal that is inside a park; it was a nice change to see some green alongside the water, rather than buildings. There was an older man, fishing in the canal.
The Dom Tower in the Old Town was beautiful, and it’s bell rang the loudest and the longest. As the tallest church in Utrecht, I barely managed to capture it with my camera.
Although I could have walked the quiet streets forever, we had to zip off to our next destination. It was lovely just to see a city, no museums, no lineups, no shopping: just to walk and see it.

Ah too bad you didn’t have more time in my hometown!!! The canal along the park is actually the Singel, a wider canal that goes all around Utrecht city centre (quite the hike if you walk it all) and there are actually several parks around it, very popular when it’s warm obviously. I hope you’re able to come back someday and explore some more.
I’m really sad I didn’t get to spend more time there! It was so beautiful. Another excuse to return! I’m glad you told me the name, thank you 🙂
