Grand Royale London Hyde Park in London, England
The Grand Royale London Hyde Park was our next home during our trip in the UK. The building was practically overlooking Kensington Palace Gardens and was just around the corner from both Queensway and Bayswater Station, making the hotel a perfect (and pricey) location. The lobby made for a grand and welcoming entrance coming in from the rain and off the hectic tube that Saturday night. We were showed up to our room after checking in, and after opening the door, I suddenly remembered how small things could be in London. There was just enough room to shove our luggage around the double bed. The facilities were nonetheless clean, new, and luxurious.Breakfast was not included with our stay, and seeing as they charged quite highly for it (I’m sure it was delicious) we decided to try other breakfast places within the area. One of the coolest features of the room was the included cell phone with free data all over London. It was so handy to have the device for directions, particularly for finding places to eat or the nearest tube station. Derek and I probably wouldn’t have been quite so adventurous if we hadn't had the phone for safety.Another feature of the hotel that I enjoyed was the Afternoon Tea they served. Something that must be booked ahead, it was well worth the time. Serving authentic clotted cream, scones (with other finger foods), and jam with a pot of tea and a little Prosecco, it was delightful. A perfect break to a busy holiday. Everyone who goes to England must partake in Afternoon Tea at least once. The tea was served in an old part of the hotel, a historic room filled with secrets of past owners. The whole affair is a little more private than when ordered at a restaurant. The Grand Royale London is definitely a hotel I would highly recommend, but you must watch out for a good deal to make it worth your stay!
