Visiting Utrecht, Netherlands

We arrived in Utrecht early on a Sunday morning, which meant that there was nothing open, but the streets were ours to explore. Parking was free. Church bells were ringing throughout the town as we strolled along the empty canals. The city was similar to Amsterdam, but much cleaner.Utrecht canalsUtrecht Old TownUtrechtThere is a canal that is inside a park; it was a nice change to see some green alongside the water, rather than buildings. There was an older man, fishing in the canal.Utrecht parkflowerscanal fishingThe Dom Tower in the Old Town was beautiful, and it’s bell rang the loudest and the longest. As the tallest church in Utrecht, I barely managed to capture it with my camera.Dom Tower UtrechtDom TowerAlthough I could have walked the quiet streets forever, we had to zip off to our next destination. It was lovely just to see a city, no museums, no lineups, no shopping: just to walk and see it.Utrecht streetsUtrecht StreetsUtrecht canal girl
