Scotland's Best Bed & Breakfast
Back in December 2016, my boyfriend and I stayed at a charming B&B that I found on Instagram, of all places. Out of all the lodgings we've stayed at across the globe, we love this one best. In May of 2018, we had the opportunity to return to Scotland's best bed & breakfast, and of course we couldn't not go.
Staying at Scotland's Best Bed & Breakfast
No. 20 B&B on Craigendoran Ave, in Helensburgh is a quiet, family run bed and breakfast. It's traditional, yet serves up a fresh take on the old school B&Bs we're so familiar with.
Catriona, owner and operator of No. 20, is the most welcoming host I've ever had. The place is filled with professional hospitality that can't be met elsewhere. Having travelled herself, Catriona knows what the best of the best is, and certainly meets that standard for everyone who comes to stay.
Although I did write a post about No. 20 already (read the initial story here), I felt the need to update based on our last stay.
Enjoying the tranquility and coziness of this Scottish home-turned-B&B is the perfect way to end any UK holiday, or begin any Highland adventure. Catriona is full of ideas for your next day-trip, or night out to dinner. Make sure to pick her brain about what to do and see in the area!
Dining at Scotland's Best Bed & Breakfast
The morning meal is what really makes this place Scotland's best bed & breakfast. It might as well be cooked by a Michelin Star chef. The Full Scottish Breakfast is the best we had on our trips (and we've had more full Scottish breakfasts than I'd like to admit). Locally-sourced food makes all the difference. But if a traditional meal isn't your thing, there are a few healthier options.
Oh, and the scones. When offered tea and homemade scones, don't think twice. If you read the note we left, you'll know that my boyfriend's favourite thing at the B&B was the scones. I'm still begging for the recipe!
Sleeping at Scotland's Best Bed & Breakfast
What's good accommodation without the most heavenly place to rest your head?
No. 20 B&B is complete with the coziest of blankets and pillows, and mattresses that feel like a cloud. The rooms are quite spacious for the UK, and are kept very tidy.
We've stayed in The Heron both times, which has a King size bed (so unusual for Europe, but welcomed!) and a separate bathroom complete with a deep tub. Showers are great, but there's nothing quite like drawing a bath after a full day exploring the damp countryside.
There is so much value in local hospitality and tourism when traveling.
When you come to stay at someone's home and you can visibly see all the hard work they put into every single detail to make your stay more comfortable, it truly puts you in the best holiday mindset. It's what makes you want to come back time and time again. That's why B&Bs are my number one choice for accommodation.
No. 20 B&B, without a doubt, is Scotland's best bed & breakfast.
