Lastly, Lovely London
It was our last day of our grand Europe adventure. I was woken early by my phone alarm, as the time hadn’t switched over from Italy. I lay in bed another hour, thinking about our time here, halfway around the world. After getting ready, the three of us left our luggage at our hotel for the day. We enjoyed a lovely little English breakfast at a Cafe Continente around the corner, sharing a delicious eggs Benedict and French toast. The pot of chai tea we shared was warm and delightful. After our meal, we took the tube to the Victoria and Albert museum (one of London’s enjoyable free museums) to view all the beautiful textiles on display. I particularly enjoyed their exhibit of all the dresses and styles throughout the ages. From there we walked through Kensington Palace Gardens, looping through all the best spots. The statue of Peter Pan was one of my favourite. We finally settled down facing the Round Pond with Kensington Palace in the background. The warm sun felt wonderful beside the crisp fall breeze. The water was flat and filled with hundreds of fowl, from swans to ordinary ducks. People were out with their dogs, strolling along the many paths. There were so many varieties of trees and flowers. I thought to myself, “how can I ever leave this place?”After our rest, we set out towards the beautiful palace and wandered through the gift shop before setting back to our tube station. After stumbling upon another cute café, Caffe Concerto, we stopped for lunch and afternoon tea. Julianna and I dined on a lovely array of finger sandwiches, scones, jam, and cakes. My favourite was the egg sandwich and fruit tart. We each got a dainty pot of Jasmine tea. Everything was so lovely. Julianna tried the cherry coke and I had a Rose Lemonade, which was bubbly and fresh with an interesting floral vibe. I could have sat there all day.Back at our hotel, we called a car and grabbed our luggage. The car took us to the nearest Piccadilly Line Station where we hopped on the tube that took us to the airport Terminal 2. I knew I would miss the tube, as it is an excellent mode of transportation. We arrived 20 minutes ahead of my schedule and after getting through security and checking in, we did some duty free shopping to rid us of our British Pounds. We went to our gate and boarded our Air Canada flight to Toronto immediately. And that is the end of my memoir, our grand adventure, and here’s to many more. It’s been almost a year now since we left on that early September day, and I have loved to share all that happened on this blog, as I have enjoyed reliving it every week since. Even though my tale has ended, a Lady and her Luggage will still be on the move, finding new stories to tell.I have a ton of ideas as to which direction I want this blog to go, and I will be talking about it in my post next week. I’d love to hear from you all, and get your ideas about what you want to see here. So come back to read more; the future looks rather bright.Cat.
