Tulloch Castle Hotel in Dingwall, Scotland

Tulloch Castle was easy enough to find within the sleepy town of Dingwall, Scotland. There were plenty of signs leading up to the town's main tourist attraction, and the hotel overlooked everything below.

It was dinner time when we arrived, and my boyfriend and I settled for bangers and mash at the castle bar. Everything was decked out for Christmas.

After our meal, the hotel begged to be explored - luckily, the concierge invited us on a ghost tour of the castle. Although my boyfriend wasn’t too keen, I was interested in learning of the castle's history. Apparently the ghost lore draws many travellers from around the globe, but we had come for the affordable castle stay.

On our tour, the guide told us interesting tales of ghost sightings and the former lives of possible ghosts, starting with the Davidson clan to whom the castle and grounds once belonged. The tour of the castle was beautiful, despite being in the midst of a major renovation, and the story of the Davidson ghost was haunting.

Our newly renovated suite helped to keep the haunting memory of the tales away during the night. Meanwhile, the cozy space heater and blankets kept out the chill.

Breakfast the next morning was not quite as delicious as previous breakfasts, but it certainly hit the spot. The meal prepped us for our day out around Loch Ness. You can read all about our adventure here and here.

Supper that night was a three course meal in the dining room, with Christmas music playing to brighten spirits. Stuffed and satisfied, we went to bed for another night's sleep, ready to check out and move on to our next Scottish adventure.
