Natural Skincare Solutions for Ladies and their Luggage

My switch to natural skincare and makeup began when I tried Rocky Mountain Soap Co.’s natural skincare line when it first came out. After being a rinse-with-water-only kind of girl because of my super sensitive skin, I was hooked. It definitely took some time getting used to actually caring for my skin; and now that I’ve started seeing signs of aging (gahh wrinkles), I’ve been updating my skin care routine again.

While it can be tempting to go for shiny bottles filled with potions designed to smooth everything out, I believe these are really just band-aids and temporary solutions. Some of these products, like concealer or plumper, can actually age you faster! Besides, I wanted something I could take with me everywhere I go and that would not cost a fortune.

Here are four new natural skincare products that I think should be in every lady’s luggage:

Gua Sha Jade Massage Stone

I try to use this miracle stone every morning after washing my face. Some evenings, I’ll even use it to relax and pamper myself! It’s like a mini trip to the spa. Jade is naturally anti-bacterial so it’s great for stopping break outs. The massaging motion you use helps with stimulating blood flow, producing collagen, and draining lymphatic fluids. This adds up to preventing wrinkles, smoothing the skin, and even slimming your face! Sometimes old methods are really the best ones.

To use your jade stone: all motions should be up and outwards (fight gravity!). I even start at my collar bone and on the back of my neck if I want to feel extra-relaxed. Next, I’ll move on to my throat, jaw line, cheek bones, under eye, nose, and finally the forehead. Depending on if I’m in a hurry or not, I’ll do 5-20 strokes on each spot. I read somewhere during my research that one should start at the bottom so as you move up, the lymphatic fluid has somewhere to drain instead of just building up.

I love this stone because of the grooves and curve; I’ll use different parts depending on which part of my face I’m massaging. The coolness (especially if stored in the fridge between uses) is perfect for de-puffing the under eyes.

DIY Dermabrasion

Getting the top layer of dead skin removed by dermatologists is a luxury known to few. It’s known to treat skin damage and make the skin look healthier and smoother. Instead of spending hundreds of dollars at the spa, I found an amazing and affordable method that does a much better job than exfoliants. I actually use a little facial razor! It’s quite safe; I find it pretty difficult to cut oneself. It’s easy to quickly go over the face with the tool, removing any peach fuzz or dead and dry skin.

After doing this, my makeup goes on so smoothly and my skin looks so fresh! This tiny little razor is so light and affordable; it’s perfect to take anywhere and look photo-ready. *And don’t worry - your hair won’t grow back thicker.

Facial Serum

There are so many kinds to chose from, but I’m pretty loyal to Rocky Mountain Soap Co. and their Restorative Face Serum. Make sure when you’re shopping to pick up one suited to your skin care needs. I always look for anti-aging or calming for my sensitive skin, but there are ones for hydration or acne too. These serums just bring life to the skin in a way that cream can’t!

I actually use a serum in my routine right before using the jade stone; I find it helps to glide the stone over my skin, particularly when I’m feeling dry. The jade stone helps massage the oil in as well. Wearing a serum, I find my skin brightens enough to go without makeup!

I've also been loving this Measurable Differences lavender oil; the scent is so relaxing!

Rose Water Spray

The final item on my must-have list is rose water spray. It’s great for before, during, and after makeup, or anytime really. It can be used as a toner and moisturizer; and like all items on this list, there are some really lovely health benefits.

In travel size, it is the perfect item to bring on board in a ca/"
]rry-on. One spray and it makes a lady feel fresh and ready to take on her next destination (even if she didn’t get any sleep on the flight)! Its non-oily, hydrating properties make it perfect for airplane conditions.

There you have my lady’s list of natural skincare solutions. All of these things have been tried and tested both at home and on the road by me, and I’ve been obsessed. I have noticed such a huge difference in my skin over the last couple months, so naturally I’ve been dying to share! Do you have any natural skin care products I should try?
