Jameson Cocktail Class: Dublin Highlights
Experiencing the Jameson Cocktail Class at the Bow Street Distillery in Dublin was a real treat. My companions and I headed there right after our visit to Guinness Storehouse. Definitely would not recommend doing these two back to back on an empty stomach...live and learn. The class was insightful and enjoyable nonetheless.
My biggest regret while visiting the distillery was not taking the tour, but we fit in what we had time for. According to the website, they don't even allow you to do both at the same time due to the amount of alcohol consumed.
The facilities were beautiful and are pretty top notch compared to all the distilleries I've visited. Everyone there was very professional and friendly. If you were ever to visit a distillery in Ireland, this one would be hard to beat.
The 60 minute whiskey cocktail making masterclass is hosted by a knowledgeable Jameson bartender, with plenty of charisma. During the span of the class, you get to attempt three different whiskey cocktails. At the end, we also sampled another hot cocktail. Make sure to plan a safe way home (or to your hotel...like the one we stayed at here) after the class.
Our group made a whiskey sour, an old-fashioned, and a Jameson Punch. The bartender shared lots of stories of the history of Jameson, and taught really valuable bartending skills.
Even if you've never mixed a drink in your life, you can very easily follow along. They even give you a take-home recipe book, perfect for showing off those new skills at your next gathering.
Whether or not whiskey is your brand of poison, this class is pretty fun for everyone. The cocktails are very drinkable too.
