Instagram Spots Nassau: in the Bahamas

Although spending just a few hours in the city is not enough time, it's feasible to visit many of the Instagram spots Nassau has to offer.

1 ) Prince George Wharf

Upon docking at Prince George Wharf, a look-back at the ship offers the best opportunity to get that classic cruise ship photo. (Far better than the ones they offer on board with the green screen, tbh).

2) Parliament Square

This colourful square isn't usually decked out with banners and flags. The prettiest pink buildings stand alone - and if it's not too busy makes a great Instagram spot Nassau

3) Downtown Nassau

Downtown Nassau is filled with colourful buildings! Depending on your aesthetic or colour scheme, you are sure to find something that works with your feed.

4) Queen's Staircase

One of the prettiest and most unique spots on the island, this gem is definitely worth waiting for a break between tour groups.

It is important to acknowledge that the Queen's Staircase is made from limestone carved by enslaved people under colonialism in 1793. It was made as a shortcut to Fort Fincastle. The Bahamas is still under the Commonwealth, but gained their independence in 1973.

4) Fort Fincastle

At the top of Queen's Staircase, you'll find Fort Fincastle. It was built under the governship of John Murray to guard the historic town of Nassau and the harbour. There, views of the beautiful town below and can be seen, all the way out to the ocean.

5) the Straw Market

Just west of the port, as soon as you off board the cruise ship, is a massive market selling souvenirs and hand-woven straw bags. I picked up the cutest pineapple bag that I carried with me for the rest of the trip! Take your time and wander through the various vendors.

6) John Watling's Distillery

A little further west and deeper into town, John Watling's distillery offers small batch rums and a beautiful backdrop for your next Instagram photo. They offer free tours daily and can teach you a thing or two about rum!

7) Arawak Cay

This most colourful stretch of beach is the best place to stop for some lunch before heading to take a dip. Make sure to try the fish fry and a Kalik, a special Bahamian beer.

8) Cable Beach

Just a little further, Cable Beach offers quintessential blue water for an Instagram photo without straying too far from the cruise ship. It also makes a great stop to cool down and relax before having to board the ship!
